Do you have a tip that would save time and money for those annoying little problems that crop up in everyday life and
in the Shop? Do you have a trick that works just as well as that hyped up merchandise they sell in stores that demand your
first born child as payment? Just send it on in via the Contact Me page and we'll post it on the site; giving credit where
credit is due of course!
Did you know heavy key collections can damage your ignition? We all know someone who has a million keys on their
keyrings, or uncountable little figurines and cute things dangling from your collection. However, what you may not know can
cost you hundreds of dollars!
The mechanic at our Saturn dealership told us about this. The weight of your spiffy collection puts pressure on the key that
you stick in the ignition to turn your car on. As the key sits there, the weight tilts the key at an angle and applies pressure
to the mechanism inside. This pressure causes damage and in just a few years, you'll be having the mechanic fixing your ignition.
This can cost a couple hundred dollars you shouldn't have to spend.
What can you do? Separate your car keys from your collection on keep them that way (or simply reattach them to your pile while
the keys are not in use).
Did you know one of the simplest ways to clean a raw specimen (assuming it doesn't dissolve in water) is to soak it for a
half an hour and then use an old toothbrush to clean the softened dirt from the crevices. Mild soap can also serve to create
a cleaning lather. If the lather still turns brown, that means that there's still dirt in the crevices!
